MSB Technology: American-Built Reference Digital and Amplification
MSB Technology has been one of the small handful of companies defining the upper end of digital audio for more than thirty years, building DACs in California that consistently anchor cost-no-object two-channel systems. The company's signature ladder DAC topology — using individually trimmed and matched discrete resistors instead of off-the-shelf converter chips — is unusual at any price and largely unique at the levels where MSB competes. The result is a brand whose products age unusually well: MSB DACs from a decade ago still hold their own against most current designs.
Alma Music and Audio carries MSB across both their digital and amplification ranges. The DAC line spans from the Discrete DAC through the Premier DAC and Premier Digital Director, the Cascade DAC, and the Sentinel DAC reference. Renderer Module v2 and the Universal I2S Digital Input Module support the modular upgrade path that has long defined the brand. On the amplification side, the M500 monoblocks and S202 / S500 stereo power amplifiers extend MSB's design philosophy to high-current solid-state amplification.
