Established in 2008, by Johnnie Bergmann. First model launched was model Sindre.

All products are developed, produced and assembled inhouse. Every single part in the products are designed by Johnnie Bergmann and manufactured in the Bergmann workshop.

My back ground
Music and highend sound reproduction, has had my attention/interest, since my childhood.
As a teenager, I bought my first audio system- Micro Seiki table, Rega arm, Ortofon cartridge, NAD pre-/amp and Dali speakers. All hifi magazines, I came across, were read carefully. At that time- in the 80.ties- I became familiar with the airbearing technic. To me it was obvious the most optimal way to build the perfect turntable. I also realized the brands in the 80.ties had some drawbacks- and were problematic and unstable to operate, for the end user.
When I- qua my interest in music and highend audio, and my education as mechanical engineer, began developing the airbearing turntables- tonearms, one of my goals were to eliminate these old drawbacks the airbearing technic were known for.

Danish design – produced in Denmark
When I design and develop, the key word is Simplicity. My roots in Denmark and Danish tradition for design, is recognized in my products. My fix points are: Design – sound and performance – technic, and user friendliness. My goal is- by thoroughly considered construction and solid materials, to avoid unintended resonances and to secure optimum stability. And to achieve an intense, natural, honest and life-like musical reproduction
Simplicity yes- but often a simple design is far more challenging in construction.
It is a must for me to combine simplicity and Danish design tradition with my airbearing philosophy and the right materials, to secure an extraordinary sound.
Every single part in the products are designed, developed and manufactured in the Bergmann workshop.
Every single product is assembled and tested at Bergmann Audio`s workshop, before they are sent to our carefully selected distributors- and vendor network.

Advantage of using air bearings
The platter is centered by a steel spindle, running in a very frictionless, low noise and hard wearing polymeric bearing material, and floats on a thin air cushion, which lower the mechanical bearing noise to an absolute minimum- if any. (A traditional bearing solution, which keep the platter centered AND support the platter weight, makes a higher level of mechanical bearing noise, as the contact point between spindle top and platter, generates a very high pressure – and hereby noise.)
By floating on an air cushion, the platter also gains the advantage of a very best isolation from the surroundings, same way as the very expensive- air supported shelfs, used in many highend audio systems.
Also the speed stability benefit from the air supported platter. The musical flow is really extraordinary - not necessarily measurable but audiable.

Linear tracking airbearing tonearm
Also the tonearm get the advantage of airbearing. The linear tracking movement, require a very low friction, which is best obtained with an airbearing. Another advantage of the airbearing is the tonearm’s immunity to acoustic feedback, as the floating part -which handle the delicate signal- has no mechanical contact to the turntable and the fixed tonearm part.
A parameter in the ultimate tonearm design is stiffness and stability in the construction. Both are carefully incorporated in the Bergmann tonearms.
The Bergmann tonearms provides you with all adjustment possibilities required. All adjustments are easily accessible and easy to handle.

Strength in the linear tracking airbearing tonearm
The Linear tracking tonearm tracks the record as it is pressed = no tracking error.
The benefit is a distortion free and relaxed reproduction, even at complex passages.
One more important advantage of the airbearing is the tonearm’s immunity to acoustic feedback, as it has no mechanical contact (the moving part) to the turntable. The only contact is through the stylus tip and the tonearm wire.

Timbre, details and nuances, is a natural part of the transparent and vivid acoustic image.
The 3D spaciousness, layering between instruments and zero tracking error is something traditional tonearm finds hard to achieve.

Airsupply
The air flow must be clean, dry and EVEN.
The pump is an oil free, long life unit. The air supply is mounted with a filter, which prevents dust particles in entering the system.
EVEN AIRFLOW. The impulses from the pump are absorbed in encapsulated reservoirs, which results in an even airflow to the air bearing and the tonearm. An absolute important point, to give the airbearings the best possible working conditions.
