The Musicbook POWER II is Lindemann’s stereo power amplifier for the Musicbook system, described by its maker as a high-performance Class-A-D design with an analogue voltage stage and an N-Core power buffer — an analogue front end feeding a high-current switching output. In the 500 version it delivers 2 x 250 watts into 4 ohms from the familiar 280 x 220 x 63 mm case, weighing 2.9 kg.
The pairing of an analogue voltage stage with an N-Core output is aimed at the two things that make an amplifier disappear: very low distortion, held below 0.003 percent, and a very high damping factor, for speed, dynamics, transparency and total authority in the low bass. Frequency response runs from 1 Hz to 50 kHz. A balanced XLR input keeps the connection to the preamplifier clean, and 4 mm safety connectors take the loudspeaker cables.
Matched to the Musicbook SOURCE II, the POWER 500 II completes a full-size system in two slim boxes. For most loudspeakers of normal sensitivity, 2 x 250 watts of well-controlled power is more than enough to let them breathe — the everyday choice in the Musicbook power range.
