The Musicbook SOURCE II is the Musicbook system’s source and control centre — a network player, converter and preamplifier in one 280 x 220 x 63 mm case, weighing 2.6 kg, built to feed a power amplifier with a signal that has been treated with real care.
Conversion runs on two AK4493S DACs in dual-differential mono mode with an AK4137 re-sampler, resolving up to 768 kHz / 32 bit and DSD 512, with a dynamic range above 125 dB, distortion below 0.001 percent and jitter suppression better than 60 dB, all timed by an ultra-low-jitter MEMS femto clock. Balanced XLR (6 V) and single-ended RCA (3 V) outputs drive the amplifier of your choice. A moving-magnet phono input at 47 kOhm / 150 pF and two analogue line inputs let a turntable and other sources sit alongside the network, and a 6.35 mm headphone output with switchable 0 / 12 dB gain and a damping factor above 100 handles headphones from 16 to 200 ohms.
It is Roon Ready and streams from TIDAL, Qobuz, Deezer, HighResAudio and Spotify Connect, from a UPnP/DLNA library, USB storage or Bluetooth, run from a fast app for iOS and Android. As the head of a Musicbook system — and the natural partner to the Musicbook POWER II — it is a source built to be heard through, not around.
