Where the COMBO drives loudspeakers directly, the Woodnote SOLO sits at the head of a system — a network player and digital-to-analogue converter built to hand the cleanest possible signal to a power amplifier or integrated of your choosing. It shares the COMBO’s compact 207 x 250 x 62 mm form, and at 1.8 kg a good deal of that weight is an ultra-linear power supply built around an R-core transformer rather than a switching supply.
That power supply is the point. Feeding the converter from a quiet, linear source lifts the SOLO’s dynamic range above 130 dB, with distortion below 0.0002 percent and a frequency response reaching from 1 Hz to 100 kHz. The converter resolves PCM to 384 kHz / 24 bit and native DSD 256, with DSD re-sampling and an ultra-low-jitter MEMS femto clock keeping the timing honest, and digital and analogue paths kept completely separate. Balanced XLR and single-ended RCA outputs let it partner almost any amplifier, while a 6.35 mm headphone output makes it a complete desktop system on its own.
Music arrives from TIDAL, Qobuz, Deezer, HighResAudio and Spotify Connect, from a network library over UPnP/DLNA, from USB storage or over Bluetooth, and an HDMI eARC 2.1 input folds a television into the same converter. What comes out is the Woodnote signature — open, resolved and musically whole — delivered from the very front of the chain.
