EMT JSD Pure Black Cartridge

The JSD Pure Black is a reference stereo cartridge with a sandwich body — an aluminium and bronze constrained-layer construction that places a high-density layer at the interface between cartridge and tonearm to reduce the unwanted resonance behaviour that assembly would otherwise store and release.

The stylus is a multi-facet MR HP diamond — multi-radius, high-polish — designed to keep the contact patch minimal and to pull information from the groove cleanly at every diameter. The cantilever is sapphire, single-material, chosen for the stiffness a hi-fi cartridge asks for at the mass a transducer of this scale can carry without penalty.

The coil is pure 4N copper. The magnet is AlNiCo, gold-plated. The body — the aluminium-bronze sandwich — is machined to sit acoustically dead against the tonearm headshell. In listening, the sandwich construction shows up as a lower noise floor around the note and a firmer bottom-end presentation than a single-material body of the same mass would deliver.

Output is 1 mV at 5 cm/s. Coil impedance is 2 × 24 Ω per channel. Recommended load is 200 to 300 ohms. Tracking force is 2.4 grams. Weight is 11 grams. Compliance is 12 µm/mN.
