EMT TMD 015 Cartridge

The TMD 015 is a true mono Tondose broadcast cartridge for late and current-generation mono LPs — the mono records cut on stereo-era lathes, with a groove geometry closer to modern practice than the pre-1954 archive.

The generator is a true mono moving-coil design — a single-channel coil, not a stereo coil summed at the phono stage — with a single mono output. Because the vertical component of surface noise is not turned into a signal at all, the noise floor of a mono record played through the TMD 015 sits well behind the music in a way a summed stereo cartridge cannot match.

The stylus is an SPH 15-micron spherical diamond, the correct profile for the microgroove mono LP. The cantilever is aluminium. The body is the 2020-revision solid-magnesium Tondose.

Output transfer level is 0.21 mV/cm. Coil impedance is 24 Ω. Recommended load is 200 to 300 ohms. Tracking force is 2.5 grams. Weight is 17.5 grams. Frequency response is 20 to 20,000 Hz.
