The EASY is the way into Thales for the listener who wants the geometry argument without committing to the Reference tier. It is a high-end pivoted tonearm with a variable offset angle — a simplified expression of the Tetragon thinking that defines the Simplicity II and the Statement — built at a lower effective mass and with a wider cartridge compatibility window. The arm is designed and machined to the same Winterthur standards as everything else in the catalog. It is the tonearm Thales builds when the customer is buying their first serious turntable and wants an arm they will not outgrow.
Variable offset angle, three null points. A conventional fixed-offset pivoted tonearm can null the tracking error at two points across the record. The EASY's geometry creates a third null point — by allowing the offset angle itself to vary as the arm sweeps inward — and reduces the maximum tracking error to 0.4° across the full record surface. That is significantly better than the worst-case error of a typical fixed-offset arm and gives the cartridge the cleanest angular relationship to the groove a pivoted tonearm can provide outside the full Tetragon linkage.
Six bearing points, low effective mass. The arm rotates on six bearing points carefully arranged to eliminate the binding and the lateral play that compromise lower-tier pivoted designs. Effective mass is 10 g, which opens compatibility to the moving-coil and moving-magnet cartridges in the 5–20 g window — a broader range than the Statement or the Simplicity II are tuned for. Two counterweights are supplied so the customer can dial in the cartridge mass without compromise.
Setup engineered for the customer. A precision installation protractor ships with every EASY so the geometry the customer aligns at home matches what the engineering intended. VTA and azimuth adjust on threaded fine-pitch mechanisms. The arm is finished in a chrome-and-anodized combination chosen for both acoustic damping and visual quietness on the plinth.
Output. Signal output is via a 5-pin DIN connector. The customer who wants the cartridge connected directly to the phono stage can specify a direct-wired output from the arm pillar.
