The M5 is a network player. It connects to the home network over wired Ethernet, receives music from a server or NAS, and renders it as a real-time audio stream for an external DAC.

It supports DLNA and other common network protocols, works as a Roon Ready renderer, and is dedicated to rendering, leaving storage to the server or NAS. Rendering happens in the M5, close to the converter, so the server can sit anywhere on the network and away from the listening room.

Outputs are AES, S/PDIF on RCA (75-ohm BNC optional) and USB. AES and S/PDIF carry PCM up to 192 kHz and DSD64; USB carries DSD64 and DSD128 as DoP. The chassis is milled from solid aluminum with rounded corners and houses a low-noise linear power supply. The aluminum construction is meant to minimize vibration, and the M5 ships complete, ready to connect.
