EMT HSD 006 Cartridge

The HSD 006 is a hi-fi stereo cartridge built around EMT's traditional stereo moving-coil generator — the transducer that established itself over decades in broadcast studios worldwide, brought into a body sized and mounted for a hi-fi tonearm.

The stylus is a Super-Fine-Line diamond, an EMT profile in continuous refinement since 1984, kept in the SFL specification for a cartridge that will hold precision tracking over a long service life. The cantilever is aluminium — the traditional broadcast material, chosen when tonal warmth and mechanical resilience are more important than the absolute minimum in cantilever mass.

The coil is pure 4N copper. The magnet is AlNiCo, nickel-plated — the older plating specification, kept on the classic-generator cartridges. The body is machined aluminium. Weight is 12 grams. Tracking force is 2.4 grams.

Output is 1 mV at 5 cm/s. Coil impedance is 2 × 24 Ω per channel. Recommended load is 200 to 300 ohms. Compliance is 12 µm/mN. Frequency response is 20 to 25,000 Hz.
