EMT JSD 5 Cartridge

The JSD 5 is EMT's high-end stereo cartridge in its most compact form — an aluminium-body generator built around a multi-radius, high-polish diamond, tuned for the kind of information retrieval a reference tonearm can carry to a reference phono stage without loss.

The stylus is an MR HP diamond. The cantilever is boron — a material EMT reaches for when the goal is high stiffness at low mass, and when the transducer's job description reads highest-resolution tracking of every detail in the groove. The coil is pure 4N copper. The magnet is AlNiCo, gold-plated. The body is machined aluminium.

Output is 1 mV at 5 cm/s. Coil impedance is 2 × 24 Ω per channel. Recommended load is 200 to 300 ohms. Tracking force is 2.4 grams. Weight is 10 grams. Compliance is 12 µm/mN. Frequency response is 20 to 30,000 Hz.

Paired with the EMT 909-HI or 912-HI on the half-inch fixed mount, the JSD 5 is the shortest path into the EMT hi-fi program at a level a serious listener will recognise immediately.
