Graham Audio LS5/8S Monitor Speakers
Graham LS5/8S
There are two major changes we have made in the LS5/8S design compared to the original LS5/8 version.
The first is the use of a diffraction slot in front of the bass driver.
The original BBC Research Department LS5/8 design did have a slot incorporated, but this was dropped in the final production version.
The LS5/5 we produce has the slot, and this is very successful in improving the smoothness of the off axis response, so we incorporated it in the LS5/8S, with definite audible improvements.
The improvement is more noticeable in the normally more ‘live’ acoustics of domestic living room, compared to the acoustically treated spaces found in studio control rooms.
The second change is the use of the Seas 34mm tweeter in place of the Audax. The Seas is a driver we have used in our flagship VOTU and professional studio speakers, and gives improved performance especially in the area just above the crossover point, blending well with the smoother response of the revised bass driver configuration.
