The Musicbook SOURCE.CD II is the SOURCE II with a silver disc still in the picture — the same network player, converter and preamplifier, ordered with the internal CD drive that Lindemann offers as an option on the platform. For a listener with a real CD collection, it keeps that music in the system without a second box.
Everything that makes the SOURCE II a serious source is here. Conversion runs on two AK4493S DACs in dual-differential mono mode with an AK4137 re-sampler, resolving up to 768 kHz / 32 bit and DSD 512, with a dynamic range above 125 dB, distortion below 0.001 percent and an ultra-low-jitter MEMS femto clock. The integrated CD drive plays through that same converter, so discs and files are held to one standard. Balanced XLR and single-ended RCA outputs feed a power amplifier; a moving-magnet phono input at 47 kOhm / 150 pF and two analogue line inputs bring in vinyl and other sources; and a 6.35 mm headphone output with switchable gain covers headphones from 16 to 200 ohms.
It is Roon Ready and streams from TIDAL, Qobuz, Deezer, HighResAudio and Spotify Connect, from a UPnP/DLNA library, USB storage or Bluetooth. In one 280 x 220 x 63 mm case, it lets a lifetime of discs and a streaming subscription live side by side, each played properly.
