Piega is a Swiss loudspeaker maker that has spent four decades doing one thing better than almost anyone else: building ribbon transducers and mating them to extruded aluminum cabinets that disappear from the music. The ribbon-tweeter architecture that defines the brand is not borrowed technology. Piega develops and manufactures its own ribbon drivers in-house, including the coaxial ribbon module that places the midrange and treble at a single physical point and resolves the time-alignment problem that conventional two-way and three-way crossovers can only approximate. The cabinets are pulled from a single piece of extruded aircraft-grade aluminum, internally damped with Piega's Tension Improve Module to remove panel resonance before it can color the sound. The Premium 801 Gen2 is the new flagship of Piega's Premium series and the first model in the lineup to debut Piega's SSD RM 01-24 ribbon tweeter — a Super Symmetric Drive architecture with a 0.03-gram moving mass coupled to a short, precisely tuned horn. The horn nearly doubles the tweeter's efficiency, allows the crossover to drop to approximately 2.7 kHz, and extends the ribbon's effective dispersion across a wider listening window. Below the SSD tweeter, a 140 mm FSD-M midrange driver and four 140 mm FSD-W woofers in a 116 cm extruded aluminum cabinet handle the rest of the spectrum, with the Premium series' characteristic bass alignment that prioritizes speed and articulation over brute extension. The Premium 801 Gen2 is the Piega for the listener who has heard the Coax line and wants its tonal honesty and ribbon transient speed at a price point that brings the technology within reach of a much wider audience — without sacrificing the brand's defining acoustic identity.
